inorganic chemistry - Colour intensity of transition metal complexes


Even though they are both d7 complexes, the colour of [Co(HX2O)X6]X2+ is pale whereas that of [CoClX4]X2 is more intense. Does the octahedral or tetrahedral geometry matter in determining the molar absorption coefficient of the two species?
