My question is concerning the sectarian's original quote. That a son and a daughter inherit equally. Is this an actual quote from somewhere?
Note the Yerushalmi in Bava Basra 8:1 says the חכמי עכום had a drasha for this law of theirs. But I'm seeking for a simple way to read the Bavli according to this understanding.
