When you get a DFT of a signal, you use the basis functions as:
$e^{-j2\pi kn/N}$
Why is it so? Why don't we use the conjugate, $e^{j2\pi kn/N}$, or any other function?
Apparently the of last four, $\ce{Mg^2+}$ is closest in radius to $\ce{Li+}$. Is this true, and if so, why would a whole larger shell ($\ce{...
